Hệ đều hành mới có code name là: ALP, Access Linux Flatform.
Được thiết kế dựa trên nền tảng của Linux, ALP có hệ thống giao diện mang tên là MAX. Mặc dù được thiết kế dựa trên Linux, ALP vẫn thiết kế một lớp Emulator để hổ trợ tất cả các ứng dụng Palm OS truyền thống có thể chạy một cách trơn tru trên hệ điều hành mới này.
Sau đây là các thành phần cơ bản của ALP:
- Standard Linux core v2.6.12 and higher. The manufacturer can use its own core version, but he must follow ACCESS's capability requirements. Customization of the core and drivers – separate commercial service from ACCESS.;
- Optimized version of GIMP ToolKit (GTK+, used for GNOME shell development) – added new interface elements, non required libraries were removed;
- STreamer Multimedia Framework – modular multi-stream media-shell;
- QLite – data base, used everywhere in built-in devices, stores data (PIM and others)
Hệ thống giao diện của ALP gọi là MAX, hổ trợ multitasking, thu nhỏ, phóng to ứng dụng, thiết kế để dùng 1 hay 2 tay, hổ trợ Keyboard và 5way Navigator.
